How I Transformed a Local Landscaping Business into a Nationally Recognised Brand
The Power of a Strong Brand
I've always been passionate about helping brands reinvent themselves, uncovering their true potential, and realising the impact a strong identity can have on business growth. When I started working with Wycliffe Landscapes, I saw a company delivering exceptional work, yet its brand presence didn’t reflect that. I knew I could help change that, and that challenge excited me.
The Challenge: A Stagnant Brand with Limited Growth
Wycliffe had the skills, experience, and craftsmanship to produce breathtaking landscapes, but their brand and marketing efforts were nearly non-existent. When I stepped in, they had:
Zero social presence—no online engagement or visibility.
An outdated website that didn’t reflect the quality of their work.
No marketing strategy—relying solely on a couple of loyal garden designers for work.
Stagnant turnover, just getting by year after year.
A minimal budget, meaning I had to single-handedly manage branding, design, social media, website development, marketing, and customer engagement.
With limited resources but a clear vision, I set out to build a brand that matched the excellence of Wycliffe’s work.
The Strategy: Rebranding from the Ground Up
My first step was to dive deep into the company’s history—understanding what made Wycliffe Landscapes unique and where its strengths lay. This foundation gave me a clear direction for a complete brand transformation, which included:
A fresh brand identity—a new logo, updated visuals, and a refined design aesthetic.
A modern website, ensuring an online presence that showcased Wycliffe’s expertise.
Engaging social content—before-and-after transformations, behind-the-scenes looks, and project highlights.
Stronger customer relationships—I became the main point of contact, enhancing client interaction and trust.
Community involvement, partnering with local charities like Purbeck Cancare and Swanage Hospital to strengthen Wycliffe’s reputation and local engagement.
The Impact: From Local Business to National Recognition

The results were instant. The renewed brand presence drove publicity and interest, attracting more garden designers, an influx of new enquiries, and, most importantly, a significant revenue increase from six to seven figures annually.
Wycliffe Landscapes went from being a small local business to an exclusive, in-demand brand, earning national recognition with BALI awards and becoming the go-to choice for top garden designers. The transformation was summed up perfectly by Wycliffe’s Managing Director, Martin Gomm:
"Taylor played a pivotal role in helping transform our business from a small local landscaping company into a nationally recognised organisation. His innovative ideas and strategic approach to showcasing our high-value projects on social media have significantly elevated our brand awareness."
Lessons Learned & What’s Next
As my first major branding role, this experience taught me invaluable lessons—how to be adaptable, make an impact with limited resources, and manage multiple aspects of a business's growth. I also realised the importance of collaboration; having a team to bounce ideas off would have taken the work even further.
Leaving Wycliffe in a position of strength, with an attractive buyer for the business, was a proud moment. Now after 6 years, I embark on a new adventure in Australia, I know the impact I can have on a growing brand. Whether it’s a business looking to refine its identity, scale its marketing efforts, or create a brand that truly resonates, I’m ready to bring the same level of strategy, creativity, and results.
